Waitlisting for United BusinessFirst Award Flights

by Adam

Have you read today’s post on DansDeals regarding “United’s Plan B” for BusinessFirst award seats?  It’s an update to a post from August confirming that “Plan B” is alive and well.  The post explains the full details, but essentially if a saver economy award is available you can choose to pay the additional mileage price for a BusinessFirst award in exchange for being added to the BusinessFirst waitlist. The waitlist will check for BusinessFirst awards until 24 hours prior to the flight after which you’ll be removed from the list.  There’s still hope though, the post provides instructions on what to do upon arrival at the airport to report your “displaced BusinessFirst passenger status”.  The best part about Plan B is that the additional mileage is returned to your account if your upgrade fails to clear.  Even better, if you clear on the domestic segments but not the international flights, the full difference is still returned to your account.  Check out the post here.
