Working Link to the Delta 70k AMEX Offer

by Adam

EXPIRED OFFER

As you may have heard there is a 70,000 Gold Delta SkyMiles AMEX offer appearing for some after completing a purchase on Delta’s site.  Not only is the promotion 40k more than the normal offer, but it also comes with a $100 statement credit on a Delta purchase within the first three months.  Like the normal offer, the annual fee is waived for the first year, though it includes a very much increased spending requirement of 5,000 within the first 6 months (25,000 SkyMiles will be awarded after your first purchase and then 40,000 bonus SkyMiles after meeting the spend). Instead of trying to figure out which flight combinations when purchased present the offer, you can click directly here for a link to the 70k application. When the page opens YOU MUST update your last and first name as well as the SkyMiles number in the address bar.

Most are receiving a message that they will hear a response within 14 days, however if you click over to AMEX’s application status page you should see whether you were approved about one hour after applying.

@Mikey – You need to edit the address within the web address of safari or firefox. John becomes your first name and Smith becomes your last, you also need to change the Delta SkyMiles #. See the post for more details.

Applied last night, got the “pending- 14 days” screen, e-mailed approval 3-4 hours later. Data point: I applied for the delta gold business card in December and cancelled in May, so it looks like as usual, business apps don’t matter for personal applications.

I applied and was approved within an hour last night. Now I am trying to fill one out for my girlfriend, and it just won’t work, Have tried 2 browsers each on a pc and mac. Tried removing cookies…. No dice. Seems my girlfriends new name is John Smith.
Any suggestions?

@Bert – are you saying your not able to change the name John Smith and the SkyMiles # in the address bar? I’m still able to edit these and proceed to the application.

Thanks for your reply, Adam.
Yes, after I was approved, i tried again for my girlfriend, and every time I hit submit button after changing all the important stuff in the url bar, it just went back to John Smith when the review page came up. She is in Alaska at the moment, and she just emailed me to say she was able to apply from there, and was successful. Glad to be through messing with that wiggy web page! Thanks for posting this, and for your followup.

I got an email instantly saying my wife was approved. I already hold an Gold Delta AmEx card, so couldn’t apply. Can someone please confirm, that I can’t apply and receive the 70k bonus miles.

@Divyesh – If you are a current cardholder probably not. If the card was canceled, they would most likely offer you the difference between the offer you were previously granted and the current offer (70k-30K). In some situations AMEX provides the bonus for the 1st purchase, but does not give you the bonus for the additional spending.

I had an Amex gold card but converted it to the free Blue version about a year ago. I just now sent a message to cancel that one too. Any one know if there is a timeframe from application date to the Delta Amex for reapplying? I’d do it for this!

got it to work yesterday, got approval email in less than 10 minutes
(time it takes for my email program to cycle)

Now to get the card and see if the miles actually show up.
