Trip Report – Zurich Lounges – SWISS Arrival Lounge, Swiss Business Lounge, & Panorama Lounge

by Adam

This is part two of a six part trip report from my travels to Slovenia and Serbia. This report includes several Zurich lounges including the SWISS Arrival Lounge, Swiss Business Lounge Zurich, and the Panorama Lounge Zurich.

Upon arriving very early in Zurich, we made our way to the SWISS Business Lounge located in transfer area A. The lounge is two floors and had a ton of leather seating and a breakfast buffet. The buffet included croissants, danishes, cereal, cheeses, yogurts, fruit, and rolls. There was also a selection of juices, teas and coffee. The seating was actually pretty crowded for so early in the morning, though the back of the first floor had plenty of seats. The seating area was modern and comfortable and each seat had two outlets and a lamp. The wifi signal was very strong in the lounge. The lounge was spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and modern, though I didn’t find anything special or unique within the lounge.  My favorite part of this lounge (and all the Zurich lounges) was the jar of Haribo Gummy Bears, never before have I scoped my favorite gummy bears onto a plate!

As we were extremely early, we made a quick pit stop to the SWISS Arrival Lounge which is open from 6am to 1pm. The lounge is located next to customs in arrival hall two. The lounge included a similar breakfast buffet with mostly cold pastry items but did have a few warm dishes (eggs & oatmeal) as well as a large selection of coffees and juices as well. The lounge had over 15 showers, three bedrooms, and a minimalist but comfortable seating area with wifi. For an arrivals lounge, I thought it was nice and I wanted to check it out for the blog, though there’s no need to visit if you are connecting. The lounges located post security are more than adequate and nicer, though with fewer showers.

On the return connection through Zurich we made use of the Panorama Lounge. The Panorama Lounge is interesting in that it is operated by Swissport and open to first and business class customers of 16 different airlines, including SWISS. I wanted to visit the lounge as it has incredible views of the tarmac and the Swiss Alps. The lounge also has modern seats and lighting as well as wifi and standard internet access. The food was decent but it is not a reason to visit the Panorama Lounge, with sandwiches and salads for lunch and dinner as well as one or two small hot dishes (soup and chicken nuggets the day we visited). While there are lots of leather seats and work tables, power outlets are only located near very few select seats and not at all by the tables. If you’re looking to charge your devices, the stool area overlooking the windows has several outlets.  Again, the lounge is really about plane spotting and views of the Alps, though it was a little snowy during our visit…

Status with Aer Lingus, Air Canada, British Airways, Cyprus Airways, Egyptair, EL AL, Jat Airways, Korean Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, Tarom, Thai Airways, Tunis Air, Turkish Airlines, or Ukraine International Airlines will also get you access. Entry is also granted to Diners Club and Priority Pass holders.

The tram from the main terminal to terminal E is great with the sounds of Switzerland and pictures of the Swiss countryside… and Heidi as you make your way through the train tunnel.

Remember, you can also do something a little more active and exciting than lounge hopping. You can bike around the grounds surrounding Zurich Airport. If you arrive early enough in the morning you might spot fox and deer, as well as frogs, rabbits, beavers, and boar on your ride through the fields and marshes of the conservation land surrounding the airport. At times nature may be pleasantly interrupted by the takeoff roll and roar of four A340 engines. Full details in this post.

Up next, Adria from Zurich to Ljubljana and back as well as the Ljubljana Business Lounge.
