The lounge is located just past security and customs, arrows on the floor if you get lost…
Multiple seating areas but early morning and afternoon are extremely busy with Alitalia, American, and United flights back to the US.
There’s a work area with four computers and there are seats at the bar… wifi was decent while access to outlets was sporadic.
In terms of food and drink, the pickings were slim. There’s an espresso bar and a small snack area. During our 8am visit there were hard croissants, nuts, a single pasta dish, and two couscous plates. There was plenty of still and sparkling water (I stocked up for the trip back) and some wine as well.
I’ve visited this lounge before, but I had forgotten how underwhelming it is (the in-flight magazines were even from two months earlier). Don’t get me wrong – I wanted a comfy seat, some water, wifi, an outlet, and a snack. The lounge fulfilled all of those needs and was close to my departure gate. Funny story, a manager was sent over to talk to me about taking pictures in the lounge. I was told that I’d be asked to leave if I took any more pictures and that the “design and espresso bar were top secret”. You heard that Emirates / Singapore / Cathay – don’t go copying the Giotto lounge or espresso bar!
