Warning – Check Your DL SkyMiles, Errors in Postings Last 2 Weeks!

by Adam

I received a surprise when checking my Delta SkyMiles statement last week to ensure my last few flights posted properly, noting errors for the first time ever! Some of the flights I took between November 14 – November 21st were missing my Platinum Medallion bonus, though they included my 50% MQM bonus and 50% class bonus. Here’s what a posting normally looks like:

Delta Bonus 2

and here’s what my last few flights look like. strangely sans the Platinum Medallion Bonus:

Delta Bonus 1

I contacted Delta SkyMiles customer service and first received a very lazy response:

Dear Mr. Point Me to the Plane,

Thank you for your email regarding Delta’s SkyMiles program.

After reviewing your account, we found the mileage was previously added and is reflected in your mileage balance. For your convenience, you may review your account information online at delta.com using the web address: http://www.delta.com. Then select: SkyMiles (top navigation link), Manage My Account, Account Activity.

If you encounter difficulty viewing the information online, feel free to call our 24-hour Online Customer Support Desk at
888-750-3284 for navigational assistance. We appreciate your interest in Delta Air Lines.

Sincerely,

xxxx

Very helpful indeed…I responded that I was aware of how to check my balance but that as noted previously, my Medallion bonus did not post for numerous flights. I then finally received an actual response. It seems that this month’s outage / slowness on Delta.com and Delta’s mobile site and apps was actually related to a database failure that impacted proper mileage crediting as well. These outages were first reported by Delta Points.

Dear Mr. Point Me to the Plane,

RE: Case Number xxxxx

Thank you for your follow up e-mail to Delta Air Lines requesting more detail about your recent postings which are missing the 100% Platinum Medallion bonus miles. Please accept our apologies for the missing bonus miles. Our database for Delta.com and our mobile apps has been experiencing some difficulties the past few weeks and these are preventing those miles from being added to your account. Our technical team is diligently working on a solution to these issues. Please allow 5-7 business day for these miles to be posted to your account. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

Again, thank you for writing. We appreciate your selection of Delta as a Platinum Medallion and will always welcome the opportunity to be of service.

Sincerely,

xxxxxx

The 5-7 days have since past and the miles have not posted. I’ll give the team a bit more time before emailing once again, but make sure you recheck your posted miles for all flights this November!

I had this same problem. I flew in A fare class two weeks back, and the 50% bonus MQMs did not post. I tried emailing Delta, but they just blew me off. I also tried calling, and they said that they would fix it, but they never did. Finally, I tweeted Delta Assist, and they fixed it in about 10 minutes.

Same issue here. Missing miles and MQM’s from A fare class. This is as recent as last weekend travel. What is interesting is that the outbound was correct and the return was not.

@vc – I had the same on one of mine, with the outbound posting correctly. I did not know it was still going on this weekend. I’m telling everyone to check everything throughout November. Perhaps Damon’s advice below is the easiest to get the miles – Tweeting Delta Assist.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been clashing with Delta over a similar issue on my account for a flight: my outbound wasn’t credited, but return was ok.

DeltaAssist claimed it wasn’t getting DMs for almost 24 hours, so my meal request was also botched on the same trip. I have a hard time believing that, but whatever.

I hadn’t thought to try thDeltaAssis on the mileage issue, so will give that a whirl!
