Pics – Lufthansa’s Brand New Newark Lounges – Senator & Business

Late last month, Lufthansa unveiled brand new Senator and Business lounges at Newark Airport Terminal B (actually right across from the SAS lounge). The lounges combined were completed for a total cost of $3.7 million, include 3,991 square feet of floor space (room for 129 passengers), and are catered by FLIK, which is part of the New York Compass Group.

The Senator Lounge requires a First Class ticket, Star Alliance Gold status, or Lufthansa HON or Senator status. The Business Lounge requires a Business Class international ticket on Lufthansa or any other Star Alliance carrier.

Lufthansa is expanding its lounge offer abroad. Due to its proximity to Manhattan, Newark Airport (EWR) in the state of New Jersey is an important destination for Lufthansa, along with John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City. The new combi-lounge extends over 475 square metres, has aBusiness Lounge with 60 seats and a Senator Lounge with 69 seats. Visitors can make themselves comfortable in cosy armchairs and enjoy snacks and drinks at the bistro tables or at the bar counter. The combi-lounge is resplendent in the new Lufthansa lounge design. Thanks to the larger windows, there is an excellent view over the apron. The catering, as in the three Lufthansa lounges at John F. Kennedy Airport, is provided by FLIK, a caterer with outstanding customer satisfaction ratings. If you have not checked in online or with your smartphone, as a First Class or Business Class passenger you can also use the ‘Fast Lanes’ at the security control for a preferential check-in. The lounge is situated in Terminal B, B3, in close proximity to the Lufthansa departure gates. A new feature: as well as First Class passengers, HON Circle Members, Senators and Business Class passengers, Frequent Travellers and SWISS passengers entitled to lounge access may now also use the new Lufthansa lounges at Newark Airport.

Today, CONDÉ NAST Traveler included some pictures of the new lounge. Two are below, but check out the full pics here.

  1. Will there be access via a United Club membership (such as the one that comes with the United MileagePlus Club card from Chase)? I had no problem getting in one of the Lufthansa lounges in the EU with the card, but I figured I’d ask anyway.
