Emirates Passenger Restrained & Bound for Smoking In-Flight

by Adam

Emirates crew members were forced to restrain a passenger by tying him up on flight EK432 from Singapore (SIN) to Brisbane (BNE) when he refused to extinguish his cigarette mid-flight on Thursday.

According to the Courier Mail:

54-year old German national Mathias Jorg appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with one count of smoking on an aircraft and two counts of assaulting airline staff. Magistrate Stephen Gutridge granted bail for Jorg on the condition he surrender his passport to Australian authorities and make no application for a replacement. He is not permitted to leave the country or go within 100m vicinity of any place of international departure.

An Emirates Airline spokesperson said: “Emirates can confirm that a passenger on flight EK432 from Singapore to Brisbane this morning was restrained by crew due to an incident mid-flight.”The Australian Federal Police were called to meet the passenger upon the flight’s arrival into Brisbane Airport and he was subsequently arrested and charged. The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and will not be compromised. As the matter is now before the courts, Emirates cannot comment further on the incident.”

No matter how irritated dear folks, please try to be gracious at the moment. If you are not please, you’ll have you opportunity to vent. Collect the ducks first and then blast if you must, front cabins with a reminder of value or cost paid if necessary… At least for the long haul, “business’ is NOT the same as First, but U.S. carriers seem to missed the point. There is NO good first class service within the lower 48 states. Any name brand name you like, Domestic First on ANY U.S. Airline is a (deleted) joke.
If the carriers really ant to sell those seats – not give them away as upgrades, then make the service and food mean something. It is Not that complicated. –And they do not improve Go figure…
