A Potential Future SkyMiles Award Partner – Air Mauritius to Join SkyTeam?

by Adam

As per Air Transport World, Air France has agreed to help Air Mauritius in its bid to join SkyTeam under a renewed and extended partnership between the two carriers. “As part of this new partnership, Air France is reaffirming its commitment to provide its full support to Air Mauritius in its aim to join the global airline alliance SkyTeam,” Air France said in a statement. Air France was one of Air Mauritius’ founding partners and codeshares with the carrier on links between Paris and Mauritius.

Check out the Air Mauritius international route map below, London Heathrow (LHR) and Paris (CDG) both have direct service. More interestingly is the direct flight to Nairobi. Air Kenya generally has fantastic availability to Nairobi which could be paired nicely with a Mauritus flight.

Anyway, there is currently no announced timeline so this is all just a possibility right now. However, you can already redeem awards with Air Mauritius using KLM/AF Flying Blue.

Curiously, we’ve been able to book Air Mairitius CDG MRU using delta miles for several years now, under AF flight number, despite not being SkyTeam or affiliated with Delta. I have a routing in 3 weeks but unfortunately may have to cancel.
