Trip Report – Emirates First Class Dubai (DXB) – Malé (MLE) – DXB B777-200LR

It may not be the Emirates A380 First experience, but First Class on their 777-200LR to the Maldives was pretty sweet too. This is part seven of a fifteen part trip report from my travels to the Maldives and Dubai. This picture report covers both our DXB-MLE and MLE-DXB legs on the Emirates  777-200LR in First Class.

Well after a 6 1/2 hour layover in Dubai it was finally time to head to the Maldives!  These tickets were included as part of Alaska Airlines Emirates award (refer to the A380 trip report above for booking details). Of course, separate jetbridge for the First Class passengers…

The seats were identical to the first class suites on the A380 in terms of design, width, and bed length. The service was just as excellent as well. Three flight attendants and a purser just for three of us in First Class…once again another empty First Class cabin. You’ll notice in the pictures below that the iPad like second touchscreen and the iPhone like remote control are both missing, replaced by the older design of each. These are still more the adequate but the new ones are a huge improvement in terms of quality, function, features, and ease of use.

Vanity and design are all similar to the A380 – Trip Report Part 1 – Emirates First Class on the A380 w/ Shower Suite – LAX – Dubai (DXB)

The 777-200LR suites are called open suites but don’t let that confuse you, the doors close just like on the A380.

Menus for the DXB-MLE and MLE-DXB flights:

Breakfast on the DXB-MLE leg and dinner, appetizers, and dessert on the MLE-DXB leg, for both flights you choose when and what you want to eat. As much or as little as you’d like… Both flights also featured the extensive liquor and wine menus.

I went with the egg noodles which came with a bread basket and small fruit plate.

Walking down the 777-200LR was pretty cool, especially into the 89F degree weather. Welcome to the Maldives!

Again, “open suites” but the doors fully close. Note in this picture the belt to secure your bags in your suite…  Also interesting, prior to takeoff the purser made an announcement that they flight attendants would be spraying the cabin due to Dubai health regulations and that there was no danger to us breathing anything in.  Hmm…

Note that PJs and amenity kits were provided once again on each of these flights. Refer to the A380 Trip Report for details on those – Trip Report Part 1 – Emirates First Class on the A380 w/ Shower Suite – LAX – Dubai (DXB)

We also made use of the complimentary Emirates Chauffeur Drive service. I made our reservation in advance on the Emirates website but you can also head over to the service desk upon arrival to reserve your vehicle. The cars are lined up right outside the terminal and there is NO waiting. They drove us directly to our hotel, all tolls and fees are included.

  1. Thank you for such an extensive report. I’m really looking to a couple of Emirates flights in F next month. Managed to snag an F seat on the new service DXB-BOS.

I will be using their limos in SIN,& DXB. Any suggestions on tipping? Some cultures deem the offer of a tip as an insult. I’d rather not make that mistake.

    Thanks

    • @Jonathan – Tip is fully included in both SIN and DXB, no need (or expectation) for you to add anything additional unless you really have incredible service.

  2. SeatGuru is out of date. All the 777’s have the suites with doors in F.

@Jonathan what miles are you using? I cant find anything out of Boston in F only J.
