On Sunday Etihad Airways revealed their new premium cabins including a three-room suite with a living room, bedroom, bathroom and shower. Don’t worry, a personal butler trained at the Savoy Butler Academy in London is also on hand.
“The Residence” will be available on new A380s in a 125-square-foot cabin on the forward upper-deck. Available for single or double occupancy, each Residence will have Ferrari-quality leather, table marquetry, custom carpets, a two-seat reclining sofa and an 82-inch-long double bed.
In addition to the Residence cabin, Etihad on Sunday also introduced the First Apartment for A380 passengers in the first-class cabin.
Nine of the First Apartments will be along a single aisle, on the upper deck of each A380 and each will have a 64-inch high sliding door, reclining armchair and a full-length ottoman that transforms into a separate 80-inch long flatbed. First Apartment passengers will also have access to a shower room and a common area, located between the first and business class cabins, with a lounge and bar area.
Etihad expects to get its first of its A380s in December, which it will deploy on the Abu Dhabi to London route. Additional A380s will likely be deployed on New York and Sydney routes as they’re added to the fleet, Chief Commercial Officer Peter Baumgartner said. The cost is estimated to be about $21,000 from Abu Dhabi to London…one way.

Of course, currently American Airlines AAdvantage miles can be redeemed for Etihad First and Business class awards with generally decent availability (when Etihad publishes a fare between the cities your traveling between). However we won’t know for some time whether restrictions will be placed on redemptions for these uber luxurious cabins…though I would guess that’s pretty likely, especially for partner redemptions.
