ANA Award Chart Devaluation Pending! Here’s What to Book Before the Changes Occur…

by Adam

ANA will transition from a distance based award chart to a regionally based program in just a few hours. While the transition was scheduled for April 12th, I’ve confirmed with an ANA reservations supervisor that customers outside of Japan will have until 6AM Tokyo time to make reservations using the old chart…that’s 5PM EST today! The distance based chart allowed for a few sweet redemption opportunities including cheap flights to the Caribbean (w/ multiple stops) and super low pricing to Tel Aviv from the US (if you could find availability…more likely for just one passenger). The current chart is listed below and the new chart is already live on ANA’s site.

Now, unfortunately if you didn’t heed our earlier warnings, today’s reminder is really only for readers who already have ANA points in their accounts as transfers from American Express Membership Rewards to ANA are NOT instantaneous!

Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 12.33.13 AMANA’s pre-April 12th chart requires roundtrip travel, which makes sense for a distance-based award chart. However, you are allowed an open-jaw as long as you return to the country of origin.

The ANA system is down today. Cannot use online reservation tool and phone agent is unable to do anything. Agent said the online reservation tool will be back online at 8pm EST tonight. Too late for final reservation under old chart. Any ideas how to still sneak one in?

do you happen to know if the new chart will allow one ways? I tried doing some research but can’t seem to find the answer.
