The Pepsi Concorde – Yes, the Soda Company!

by Adam

Fun fact, did you know that Pepsi paid an insane amount of money to paint an Air France Concorde jet in Pepsi blue livery? It happened, it was part of their rebranding from red to blue in the late 90s to differentiate themselves from Coke. It took workers 2,000 hours to complete the job before the aircraft was revealed at LHR by Cindy Crawford and Andre Agassi. There were even restrictions on the flight due to the paint:

Whether flying the colors of British Airways, Air France or Singapore Airlines, the Concorde required a specially formulated high reflectivity white paint scheme with minimal logos in order to dissipate as much heat as possible. Sierra Delta could not sustain Mach 2 speeds for more than 20 minutes as a result of the Pepsi livery, as the blue paint did not reflect or radiate heat as effectively as the standard white.

Wow, that’s really pretty, and I don’t even like Pepsi. I was transiting CDG earlier this year (much to my dismay), for the first time in decades and saw the Concorde they have on display. It looks so tiny.
