The deal is for a 413-key dual-branded hotel designed by SmithGroup JJR. The hotel will be composed of Canopy by Hilton, a 120,000-square-foot lifestyle brand hotel, which will have 175 keys, and Hyatt House, a 145,000-square-foot extended-stay hotel, which will have 238 keys. Definitely not a first in the US – NY has the Hampton/Holiday Inn Express/Candlewood all in one building at 3xx W 39th street, among other ones out there.

The key isn’t that it’s two different hotel brands, it’s that the same management company runs them both. Odds are that either Curio gave a better value prop than Hyatt Centric, or Hyatt House gave a better value prop than Homewood.
