Flying Today? Homeland Security System Malfunction Results in Airport Delays

by Eric

If you were flying yesterday evening (October 14, 2015) between approximately 7pm-9:30pm EST, then boy do I feel bad for you!  A Department of Homeland Security system malfunction in airports across the United States resulted in thousands of passengers being stuck waiting in long customs lines for hours on end.

The problem was with the Department of Homeland Security’s system that checks passenger names against the country’s terror watch lists.  Some of the airports that were affected included John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Boston’s Logan International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Dallas Forth-Worth International Airport, and Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport.

The good news is that these delays are not expected to spill over into travel today.  However, it would still be wise for you to double check your flights for today to make sure that they have not been impacted.

Were any of you caught up in this mess?
