Did You Know A Selfie Grounded an American Airlines Plane Last Night?

by Eric

Bet you didn’t know that taking a selfie could temporarily ground an American Airlines plane.  In Boston, MA one worker’s selfie did just that yesterday.  An American Airlines plane was temporarily out of service last night (October 22, 2015) after an employee working at Boston Logan International Airport took a selfie on its wing!

Now That’s What You Call a Selfie

As first reported by MyFoxBoston, a contractor for SwissPort, who is a badged employee and allowed on airport property, climbed on the wing of a plane and snapped a selfie.  Climbing out onto the wing of the plane forced American Airlines to briefly take the plane out of service to ensure that there was no damage.  The employee will not face any criminal charges, Massachusetts State Police said Friday morning.  It is up to the Massachusetts Port Authority, which owns and operates Boston Logan International Airport to determine whether or not further action will be taken.

Not sure why there was a need to specify there would be no criminal charges… does that mean someone even considered it?
