Back in August, Starwood announced that the best and most luxurious Sheraton hotels would be re-branded as Sheraton Grand properties. During that announcement, Starwood noted that the hotels selected offered amazing locations, exemplary customer service and satisfaction, stellar gyms and spas, and rooms with “sophisticated design and precision workmanship.”
“Sheraton is Starwood’s largest and most global brand, and as we continue our work to firmly keep Sheraton in the spotlight, we recognize the need to better match guest expectations for the brand around the world,” said Adam Aron, Starwood CEO on an interim basis. “Sheraton Grand celebrates our standout hotels and helps us further reinforce Sheraton as a trusted voice in global travel.”
“We expect many of our Sheraton hotels to achieve the Sheraton Grand designation, and we will work with our owners to open new Sheraton Grand hotels or renovate existing properties to ensure a consistent and exceptional experience in our new premier tier,” said Dave Marr, Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “The worldwide network of Sheraton Grand will promote growth and lure more high-end travelers for the Sheraton brand globally, and we look forward to welcoming 100 Sheraton Grand hotels by early 2017.”

The temporary beta site for the new brand has now transitioned to the official site and you can check it out here – http://www.sheratongrand.com. It’s esentially a listing of the first ten hotels that are included in the portfolio. I’ve actually recently visited two of these – Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh & Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort…trip reports on those soon, though one was a lot more “grand” than the other.

My guess is the Edinburgh Grand wasn’t so “grand”, looks like a regular Sheraton to me from the pics. I’d love to hear a “teaser” report on this hotel as I’m traveling to Edinburgh shortly.
