American Becomes 4th Airline to Add Service from NYC to Kansas City (MCI) – LGA for AA

Yesterday, American Airlines and the Kansas City Aviation Department announced the addition of twice-daily service from New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Kansas City (MCI) beginning April 5th.

The service will be operated on American Eagle Embraer 170 aircraft, offering First class and Economy class service to travelers. Early morning and early afternoon departures make getting to New York City convenient for business and leisure travelers, alike. Returning is equally convenient with late morning and evening departures from LaGuardia. “With over 500 passengers flying every day, New York City is the fourth most popular route from Kansas City,” said Kansas City Director of Aviation Mark VanLoh. “We’re pleased that American Airlines has elected to provide another nonstop option for travelers between the Big Apple and the City of Fountains.”

Additionally, American will launch new nonstop service between Kansas City and Cancun starting in March 2016. The Cancun flights will operate on Saturdays with Boeing 737-800 equipment.

United serves MCI from Newark while Southwest began LGA-MCI service earlier this year. Delta’s service has been in place for several years.

  1. The headline is wrong – they’re the fourth airline to serve the NYC area (joining American and Southwest out of LGA and United out of EWR) and but only the third from LGA.
