How To Install Google Play to Amazon’s $50 Fire Tablet – Avoiding Inferior Amazon App Store

by Adam S.

Thinking about buying Amazon’s $50 Fire tablet, but worried you’ll be stuck with Amazon’s inferior app store? Lucky for you, the talented folks over at rootjunkysdl.com have created a free and easy to use script to install Google Play to your Fire tablet. The script will also disable the annoying advertising screensaver. Better yet, this method won’t void the Amazon warranty.

I did this myself this morning and it was actually quite easy to install. If there was ever a time where “if I can do it you can too”…this is it!

The video below will guide you through the installation process.

Please update the link, it should be rootjunkysdl.com. You are missing the “s” and that website is complete junk with malware.

Hey Luke, thanks for pointing that out, the link is now fixed.

As for malware, this was created by a well-known developer over on XDA. I see no mention of any shenanigans in the 41 page thread. Its also been reviewed by some heavy hitters in tech.

Just like anything though… Caveat Emptor

Sorry about that, no malware in the script. The page that was originally linked was just a bad page. Looking forward to testing out the script soon!

Hi Luke, report back when you install the script. There is also a method to install the Google Now launcher (standard Android home screen) to get rid of the Fire OS launcher. It takes a bit more brain cells though and I haven’t been able to get around to it yet.
