In case you missed the story, a YouTube video of Dr. Anjali Ramkissoon, a fourth-year neurology resident in Miami, FL, went viral last week. In the video, Dr. Ramkissoon is seen verbally and physically assaulting her Uber driver. It was a hard to believe video when you watched it, and certainly made a lot of people happy that when they were acting foolishly, someone was not there with a video camera to capture the moment!
Since the incident, Dr. Ramkissoon and her family have (understandably) tried to avoid the media spotlight as much as possible. Recently, Jose Lambiet of GossipExtra managed to track down Dr. Ramkissoon to her $2,000-a-month apartment at the Opera Tower in downtown Miami. In his brief conversation with her, Jose reported:
The first thing we noticed about Ramkissoon when she opened the door was that she, as she claims during the attack, is really tiny.
As in 5-foot, 100 pounds all-wet tiny.
Second, she appeared to be much more soft-spoken than the dragon lady who tried to kick the Uber dude in the groin then tried to hit him with a right hook in an incident that occurred when she tried to take someone else’s ride in Miami Beach.
Further along in the conversation, it seems as though Dr. Ramkissoon does not fully grasp just how bad the situation looked to outsiders:
“I’m trying to stay under the radar with a few friends. I didn’t realize this was going to be such a big deal. I had to change my cell phone number because strangers were calling to yell at me” said Dr. Ramkissoon.
In addition, Jose notes that Dr. Ramkissoon did not appear to be “contrite or apologetic.” Dr. Ramkissoon goes on to say “I’m not sure I deserve what’s happening.” Jackson Health System (where Dr. Ramkissoon is employed) is still considering their options and have not formally announced any decisions yet.
What do you make of this whole situation?
