Explosion on Flight Today – Causes Unclear According to Daallo Airlines CEO

by Eric

On a Daallo Airlines flight from Mogadishu to Djibouti today, an apparent explosion occurred on board while in flight.  Mohammed Ibrahim Yassin, the chief executive of Daallo Airlines said that the cause of the incident is “still unclear,” but that the aircraft in question has never had any technical faults during its three years of service with Daallo.  Forbes reported that “Fifteen minutes the aircraft was in the air. There was a bang, a sort of an explosion, and then it returned safely.  There are two minor injuries. We don’t know what caused it … Anything is possible. By tomorrow the picture will be clearer.”

The type of damage caused some speculation that a bomb may have been detonated on-board, but Yassin said it is too early to reach any conclusions.  He was also unable to clarify whether there were any injuries as a result of the incident.
