SkyTeam’s Aerolíneas Argentinas to Cut Long-Haul Routes to New York, Barcelona, and Rome

by Adam

In case you missed the news late last month, SkyTeam member Aerolíneas Argentinas announced a major restructuring plan to turnaround the loss making carrier by 2020. The plan calls for the full merger of Aerolíneas Argentinas with domestic sister carrier Austral (which are already mostly integrated), 1,500 job cuts through voluntary retirement, and the retirement of seven long-haul A340-300s.

As part of the A340-3 retirement, routes to New York JFK, Barcelona El Prat, and Rome Fiumicino will be terminated. The airline will continue to serve a few destinations outside of South America including Madrid, Cancun, Havana, Miami, and Punta Cana.
