Westin Las Vegas To Renovate, Close Casino and Add Restaurant

by Adam

The Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa announced that it is looking to ditch its “off-strip” resort label and simply be a hotel. Rooms at the property will be completely renovated to “Starwood” standard, a restaurant will be added, and the pool will be expanded. However, the 24 hour, six table and 150 slot machine casino will be closed due to a lack of revenue. The hotel first became a Starwood property in 2003 when it reopened as the Westin Casuarina, it is definitely in need of a renovation. Current prices often are not that much lower than nicer properties on the strip.

Starwood is also currently converting the SLS Vegas into the W Vegas.

Long overdue–and a welcome option when the renovation and upgrade to a proper Westin quality hotel is complete! While the SLS and W might be fancier, they are removed from the center of the Strip…whereas the Westin is right in the middle of it all.

Also worth mentioning is the fitness center is being moved into ( or next to) the spa. The current fitness center room is becoming another conference break out room.

I liked playing $5 blackjack at the Westin when they had 3:2 tables. It was fairly easy to get a seat and the casino was non-smoking, a welcome departure from the Vegas norm. Sorry to here the casino there will be no more.
