Iberia & Cathay Issue Hand-Written Boarding Passes During Power Outage – Great Pic!

by Adam

Last weekend, Terminal Seven at JFK experienced a server crash during the busy holiday weekend travel period. We blogged then that local New York stations were reporting that many passengers were being checked in by hand and provided hand-written boarding passes. We now have a one of those passes for an Iberia flight thanks to reader Jeff L who shares tweets from a few of the passengers including the letter that Cathay presented to passengers.

This Iberia pass to Madrid is amazing…

years ago I was taking an LH flight to FRA with a morning connection via SQ operating as an LH codeshare. Normally I would get my SQ flight boarding pass with my first check in but it just would not print. I was told I had to check in in FRA. In FRA I ran to the SQ to do check in the night before but they told me they were doing a manual checkin, only in the morning. They do this as practice evry few months, just in case of snafus like the one at JFK.
