by Eric

If you have travel plans this upcoming weekend, make sure that you pack along some patience. This Fourth of July weekend AAA is predicting that 42.9 million Americans will be traveling, up 1.3% from the record high that was set in 2007 and 2015.

This surge in travel is being driven by lower gas prices, as well as a growth in consumer confidence, said Filomena Andre, AAA’s vice president for travel products and services. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.31, which is 47 cents less than one year ago.

If you have plans to travel by air, make sure you get to the airport well in advance of your flight. More than 375,000 are predicted to travel by plane, up 3% from last year’s 364,000 air travelers.
