United Airlines Is Changing MileagePlus Login Process This Week

by Eric

Customers who have a United Airlines MileagePlus account will see changes coming to their login procedure later this week. United Airlines has been sending out emails to travelers letting them know that they will discontinue the use of PINs during the login process and start using a more secure 2-factor authentication process.

The airline has informed customers that this change will affect them on two different ways when accessing their MileagePlus account:

  1. If you contact United by phone, you’ll be asked for your password when using the automated system or for your security answers when you speak to a United representative.
  2. Your security questions will also be used as part of upcoming two-factor authentication to further protect your account — you’ll be asked to answer your security questions the first time you sign in from a device that that United does not recognize.

Further information about how this will impact your account and how to set up 2-factor authentication is available on the United Airlines website.
