Activate Your Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ Priority Pass Membership

by Enoch

The Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ Card is the new favorite credit card in the points and miles world, and for good reasons. One of the major benefits of the card is a Priority Pass membership, which allows you and your companions to access over 900 lounges in their network.

Chase Sapphire Reserve allows you to access 900+ lounges in the Priority Pass network!

Chase Sapphire Reserve allows you to access 900+ lounges in the Priority Pass network!

The membership is not automatic, however. You need a Priority Pass card to access these lounges, just showing up with your credit card will not do. If you were recently approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve℠, this is how you can activate your Priority Pass membership. You might be able to do this even if your Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ card has not yet arrived!

In order to do so, you will have to log-in to your Chase online banking account. Chase recently re-designed their website, so accessing the Benefits page might be a bit different depending on which version you have.

Old Version

First, scroll down to your Sapphire Reserve card, and select “Go to Ultimate Rewards.”

On your Ultimate Rewards page, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and select “Card Benefits.”

Finally, select “Activate now” under “Airport Lounge Access.”

Once you click on it, you should be greeted with a green check mark. Your card is set to arrive within 2 – 3 weeks, and judging by the fact that I requested it almost 2 weeks ago but have yet to receive mine, it looks like they are sticking to that timeframe. I am sure Chase and Priority Pass are overwhelmed with requests at this point.

New Version

You get a shortcut if you have the new version of Chase’s website. Simply select your Sapphire Reserve card on the left. Under “Things you can do,” click “Card benefits” to be taken directly to the sign-up page.

When Can You Start Using Your Membership?

Priority Pass launched a mobile version of their card earlier this year, and once you sign up for a Priority Pass account online, you can use the mobile card. However, signing up on Priority Pass’ website requires a PIN that is mailed to you with your card.

Since no one ever keeps the original letter (or…maybe it’s just me?), with Citi Prestige and AMEX Platinum, I had to call Priority Pass for the PIN for the sign-up process. They were able to get me verified and signed up. However, most people have not had luck with the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s version of the card, at least not before the physical card has arrived.

All in all, you might have to wait 2 – 3 weeks until your physical Priority Pass arrive in the mail. In the meantime, however, Chase has confirmed on Twitter that the Priority Pass membership with Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ essentially comes with unlimited guests. That’s reassuring!

Thanks. Really helpful!

Dumb question: You can use Priorty Pass in one terminal if you are flying out of another one? But, you do have to show a valid boarding pass for that day? Flying out of DFW, it looks like there is just one club in one terminal, unlike the Admirals Clubs.

Hi Joe! It’s been my experience that as long as you can get into that terminal (e.g. in Europe, you can’t go into the Schengen area if you are departing to a non-Schengen destination), you can use your Priority Pass for the lounge there. Their terms and conditions do state that you need a same-day boarding pass, but no specific terminal seem to be required.

I used my priority select membership at 3 priority lounges (1 in US flying out from the same terminal, 2 in Europe arriving and flying out from different terminals from where the lounges were) the last 2 days. They did not ask for boarding passes. I brought a guest and they didn’t ask for his boarding pass either.

I called Chase several times about getting access to lounges, since tomorrow I will be traveling for over a month and won’t be home to get the physical card. I asked for the priority pass membership number, since with that you can register and obtain a digital membership card immediately. Chase said they don’t have that number, you have to wait for the physical card. But they did say that a CSR cardholder who hasn’t received the physical card can charge the entry fee to the lounge to the CSR card, and they will process a reversal of the charge if you call them.

Activated mine on chase’s site, called PP to see if they could give me any info and they were of no help. They said chase handles everything… might be good, might be a pain in the ass… I leave for a business trip Friday so I might have to do the reimbursement thing mentioned above…

Does anyone know is the reimbursement is only for the cardholder or guests as well? I will be traveling before my PP card arrives and will bring 2 guests with me for a total of 3 people, myself included. Will chase reimburse 3x$27= $81.00?

I am interested in knowing this. Did you happen to purchase more than $27 and did Chase credit you back for the entire amount.

How do you apply for PP for an authorized user (2nd user on the CSR card)?

Reply
Albert October 7, 2016 - 12:35 am

Yes, I’d like to know as well.

I received my authorized user’s card AFTER I actived the PP membership with my card (per the instructions above). The checkmark was still green. I thought there’d be a “Activate for PP for Authorized User” box.

thanks!

I am curious about what “level” of Priority Pass Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders get. I emailed Priority Pass with my account number and they told me they could not tell me what level I had (which seems really weird).

Anyone know?

The membership levels are as follows:
Standard membership: $99 per year; includes visits for $27 each
Standard Plus membership: $249 per year; includes 10 free visits, with subsequent visits for $27 each
Prestige membership: $399 per year; includes unlimited complimentary visits (guests cost $27 each)

Thanks to anyone who has more info!

Hi Eby. Priority memberships that come with a credit card do not fall into one of those three—rather, they all have their own separate terms & conditions. The Chase Sapphire Reserve version is most like the Prestige membership, in that you get unlimited visit, but you also get unlimited guests for free. Hope that helps!

The priority select membership with Chase does not appear to support the Digital card offered by priority lounge’s mobile app. Thus you will need to have your physical card to gain access to lounges.

I registered my card in the Priority Pass App but cannot access the digital membership card – it doesn’t even show up as an option in my menu bar. (I have Priority Pass Select via Chase Sapphire Reserve). Any ideas how to get the digital card access?
