Uber “Ghost Drivers” Scaring Passengers into Paying for Rides They Didn’t Take

by Adam

Apparently creepy driver “ghost” profile pictures are scaring Uber passengers in major Chinese cities into paying for rides they did not take. TNW reports that once the driver confirmation screen pop-up with the picture, users become frightened and forgo their trip, resulting in a cancellation fee.

Uber says that they are “collecting all kinds of evidence and will pass them on the public security department.” It is also refunding fees to customers who report incidents. Full details here.
