These Are Delta’s New Uniforms by Zac Posen

Delta is set to reveal their new uniform today, at an event in Atlanta. They have a runway show scheduled for 1:30 ET, but it looks like photos of the uniform are already available on Delta’s Flickr album. The new uniforms are designed by Zac Posen, and will be manufactured by Lands’ End.

The partnership between Zac Posen and Delta was announced way back in April 2015, and the collaboration also involved employees who will actually be wearing the uniforms. Earlier in August, there were reports that multiple designs were rejected because they were deemed “too sexy…and don’t work for all sizes and ages.” The final design, as unveiled today, however, look amazing. I can also see them appropriate for a wide range of body sizes and figures, and are not too fitted as to hinder flight attendants’ services.

The new looks are really stylish, and seem to pay homage to some of the older uniforms Delta had. I think the mix of modern cut and silhouette with vintage details that remind many of the “golden days of aviation” is brilliant! The new uniform also expands the current color palette, and many flight attendants will now sport purple pieces instead of the old red, black, and navy. I must say this is surprising, but is also refreshing. To be honest, at first glance I thought the uniform was for Virgin America!

I am a big fan of the new uniforms, which give Delta a fresh yet refined look. This uniform will replace the current iteration, designed by Richard Tyler and last updated in 2006. Delta is also excited about this new launch, and has created an interactive timeline where you can see all the past Delta uniforms.

It’s worth noting that below-wing employees, like those in maintenance, cargo, and TechOps, will also be getting new uniforms. Their uniforms have not seen a major since 2000, and Lands’ End will be in charge of the new design.

These are just some of the uniform pieces that Delta has unveiled today, and you can see more on Delta’s Flickr album. As usual with systemwide uniform rollouts, there will be a testing period over the next year. Delta is expected to roll out the uniform to all of 60,000 employees worldwide in 2018.

Do not like at all. Short sleeves won’t be warm. Neither will cape. High neck blouse with tie is old fashioned looking and be bothersome.

There is much more to the collection not being shown (long sleeved shirts, warm coats, pullovers for ramp and beautiful trench coats for flight attendants. Love this collection!

Awful. Overall dull color for a flight attendant uniform. Only the blonde model looks nice wearing it. Blouse is not retro, just frumpy.
