Emirates Business Class Lounge Completes 2-Year, $11 Million Upgrade

by Enoch

Emirates just finished the 2-year, $11 million renovation project of their Concourse B Business Class Lounge in Dubai. The “new” lounge is completely refurbished, and will be able to accommodate 1,500 passengers, which is 40% more than before. Emirates claims that they also double the size of the kids play area, and improved the Timeless Spa so that it’s now capable to offer hair and beauty treatments.

But perhaps most exciting is that Emirates has added 3 new, distinct spaces to the lounge, via partnerships with other brands. The new Coffee Bar will be manned by Costa Coffee baristas, providing handcrafted drinks around the clock. There will also be pastry options available for those who want a quick bite.

In partnership with Moët & Chandon, the “Champagne Lounge” will offer four champagnes: Moët Impérial, Moët Rosé Impérial, Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage, and Moët Nectar Impérial. They have also come up with a new menu of canapés that designed to go with specific champagnes.

The smoked salmon wrapped in Nori with wasabi mayonnaise, for example, will go with the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2006. The Moët Nectar Impérial, on the other hand, might be paired with something sweeter, like passion fruit and jasmine tea macaroons. Other canapés options include veal bacon gouger, asparagus and leeks tartlet, and beef bresaola honey roast fig & pumpernickel bread.

Emirates won’t be the first lounge offering a champagne bar; Cathay Pacific, for example, offers a Champagne bar with three champagnes in their First Class “The Wing” lounge in Hong Kong. However, Emirates says that this is the first time four Moët & Chandon champagnes will be made available at the same time.

Finally, Emirates will offer a Health Hub with Voss water. Emirates claim that it’s the first airline to include such a lounge space dedicated to health, and will be offering up fruit and water infusions. There will also be healthier sandwiches, wraps, and salads, as well as fruit juices and smoothies available.

Emirates operates a total of 6 lounges in Dubai, and this is the first one to undergo a major renovation like this. Emirates said that this will give customers a taste of what is to come in the future, since they planning to add distinct spaces like to other lounges. In the next year, they are hoping to add areas like sports bars and cocktail bars within their lounges.

The new lounge looks gorgeous, and kudos to Emirates for the nicely done renovation. The Business Class Lounge is accessible to First and Business Class passengers, as well as Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold, and Silver members.

Related to access: from my last experience in Dubai it is also available to OneWorld Sapphire and Emeralds traveling on QF metal (coded as QF) on the A380 leaving from the same terminal. (Emeralds would be better served using the F Lounge over the Business Lounge – in spite of this upgrade.)
