Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 12 Minutes w/ World’s First Hyperloop System

by Adam

The high-speed vacuum tube system that Elon Musk imagined is coming to the UAE! The ambitious project will allow travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 12 minutes via a Hyperloop system. Current travel time is 2 hours by bus, 1.5 hours via rental car, 1 hour and 20 minutes when flying, and 1 hour via train.

Hyperloop travelers will use self-driving cars to transport themselves to the stations before the same cars are boarded onto the Hyperloop train:

“Individuals can commute for limited distances within the city in small self-driving vehicles. These vehicles can then board the Hyperloop train to travel for longer distances—including between cities—with speeds that can reach 1,200 kilometers per hour, exceeding aircraft speed. Hyperloop stations will be spread all around the city, providing easy and convenient access. This would effectively reduce travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to less than 12 minutes, and between Dubai and Riyadh to less than 48 minutes. The new technology is set to have positive implications on urban planning; it will economize parking spaces as it changes the way individuals commute within the city, as well as to and from logistical centers such as airports and ports—not to mention the impact it will have on shipping.”

Plans call for stations to be built around some of the most popular business and tourist destinations in both cities. Check out the full press release here.
