Delta Buys 5 New Heathrow Slots, Ends Flights to Taipei

by Adam

Delta has agreed to purchase five additional landing and take-off slots at London’s Heathrow airport for $19 million according to Investopedia. The morning slots apparently are coming from Croatia Airlines which has struggled with its Zagreb (ZAG) – Heathrow (LHR) flights. The airline plans to use the $19M to cover a $30M aircraft engine maintenance plan.

In other Delta news, the carrier announced that it would terminate all flying to Taipei effective May 24th. The airline currently operates a Tokyo Narita (NRT) – Taipei (TPE) as a tag on to its SEA-NRT service. Delta notes that many SkyTeam partners will continue to provide connecting service to Taipei.
