The Most Outrageous Hotel Concierge Requests

As one accumulates status and points in this hobby, you might begin to feel a bit entitled…however I can guarantee that your requests to the concierge have never been this outrageous! Back in 2015 Condé Nast Traveler produced a list of 8 outrageous hotel requests, they’ve now updated that original article to include a total of 12 insane requests.  A quick preview of a few below, but check out their full article here for each request and the hotel that actually fulfilled it!

The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico – Chief Concierge Josell Valazquez has received a variety of outlandish requests, including a last minute request for a farm animal: “I was asked to obtain a goat at 2:00 AM,” he reports. “There was an international film crew staying with us for their project and the star of the documentary was an old male goat. The goat had unfortunately passed away during the night, and the film crew was scheduled to complete the last scene between 3:00 AM and 4:30 AM before flying out of Puerto Rico immediately after.” Valazquez, and his last-minute billy goat, managed to save the shoot at the eleventh hour.

Coworth Park, Ascot, UK – A guest had requested to have treadmill put in his second floor room. The installation required a window to be removed and the exercise machine to be raised by forklift into the room—an operation that the hotel staff executed with aplomb.

W Hollywood – An eccentric Norwegian businessman and regular guest at the W Hollywood approached W Insider (concierge) Chris Nelson one Friday night with a request. He handed Chris $2,000 in cash and said, “go buy me clothes, I want to dress like you.” Nelson made a call to his favorite store on Robertson Boulevard and had them open up for him after hours so that he could buy the guest a full wardrobe for the night.

Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris, France – Once a client requested small lions for his daughter’s birthday party. With very short notice, the concierge managed to source two small lions for the party. The girl (and her parents) were thrilled.

  1. I’m sure most folks have seen it by now, the “But I’m a Diamond guest” video with the giraffe comes to mind.

What’s most amazing to me is not the outlandish request(s), but the ability of the concierges to actually fulfill them (at 2:00am in the morning or on a Friday night). These concierges are like Alfred(s) serving Batman.
