Thursday was a big day for those looking to win big at Trump’s former Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The table games and slots are gone, but these visitors were looking for something different…deals. The hotel and casino was built back in 1990 and everything not nailed down was up for sale – Flat-screen TVs (going for $50 a piece), room furnishings, chairs, chandeliers, bar tables, stools, patio chairs, and more. Well, everything but items with the Trump name on them. Those were removed prior to the sale to the disappointment of many bargain hunters. The Washington Post reports on the most expensive items:
The three largest chandeliers above the main escalators cost $250,000 apiece when new; they were selling for $35,000 Thursday. And the seven smaller chandeliers in the lobby were already drawing interest at $7,500 apiece, marked down from $40,000.
Hard Rock plans to open on the site next May after purchasing the property in March for $50M (Trump spent $1.2B to open it).
