SPG 2018 Updates – Separate Programs, No Starpoints Expiration for Lifetime Status Members

by Adam

Starwood Preferred Guest sent communication out this morning that confirmed what most of us already assumed, Marriott Rewards, SPG, and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards programs will remain separate as Marriott Inc. continues work to create a combined program throughout 2018. All functions and benefits of the current programs remain in place.

Starwood also announced a no expiration policy for those with SPG Lifetime Status as well as a new Hertz partnership.

For our members with SPG Lifetime™ status: We’ll always recognize your lifetime achievement. And starting now, your Starpoints will never expire.

Introducing our Hertz partnership beginning in early 2018: You can earn Starpoints® on Hertz rentals. Plus, SPG Platinum members will be eligible for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Five Star® status, which includes car upgrades, bonus Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points and more. SPG Platinum members with ambassador service will be eligible to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® President’s Circle® status and benefits.
