Australian Officials Deny that Remains of MH370 “Found on Google Earth with Bullet Holes”

by Adam

Over the weekend, the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) shot down rumors that MH370 had been discovered on the floor of the Indian Ocean and was covered with “bullet holes.” Apparently, an Australian mechanical engineer said that Google Earth images showed the missing plane 10 miles south of the island of Mauritius. He shared the images which appear to show a basic outline of a plane to the ATSB.  He re-told his story this weekend, though apparently he originally contacted the agency back in 2016 and 2017 via their Facebook profile. The engineer claims authorities did not want to respond to him or find the aircraft because it was “full of bullet holes”.

“At no time did the ATSB suggest the evidence could be missing flight MH370.” The Google Earth images McMahon sent to the Australian agency were from Nov. 6, 2009 — more than four years before the airplane disappeared, officials added.

And so MH370 continues to be one of the greatest aviation mysteries. The 777 with 227 passengers and 12 crew disappeared in 2014 flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. In January of this year, a U.S.-based company won approval to begin a new search for wreckage of the flight.
