Iberia Plus, the loyalty program for Iberia, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with 25% off flights on Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum (you can also earn 25% more Avios for purchased flights) through April 11th.
Now, you can transfer Avios between British Airways (or the genric Avios site) and Iberia, however you need to have had those accounts for 90 days before you can move any points. The transfer link for either program can be found here (sign into BA.com first). Also, by redeeming with Iberia, you’ll pay no fuel surcharges on Iberia flights as well as lower taxes, I saved almost $200 on this trip. Using Iberia’s distance based award chart combined with the 25% off promotion nets you business class from many US locations (JFK, ORD, BOS) to Madrid or Barcelona for just shy of 26,000 miles! In economy, that drops to an awesome 12,750 miles. Now prices can be higher if you are flying during peak times, though I’m seeing tons of off-peak availability at these levels. Flights must be purchased by April 11th and travel must take place from March 27th – June 15th and then again from October 1st – December 15th.
Remember, your transfer options -> Chase UR 1:1 to BA, AmEx MR 250:200 to Iberia, and SPG 1:1 to BA.
