The recently opened Grand Hyatt Baha Mar told guests on Tuesday that they will not be allowed to stay on property and would have to evacuate in the event that the hotel is determined to be in the direct path of Hurricane Irma. A copy of the letter from GM Scott Allen was delivered under the doors to all guests and obtained earlier this week by The Street.
“It is possible that we will experience dangerous weather conditions by the end of this week and this weekend. Should the island be placed under a Hurricane Warning, we will require all guests to evacuate the property either to local shelter or to evacuate the island.”
Given the three years of construction delays and all the current work still in progress, let’s hope that many guests respected the warning. The hotel is currently showing no availability until next Thursday (9/14).
Atlantis Paradise Island said they have on-site shelter facilities and provisions for guests and were not requiring anyone with a confirmed reservation to leave the property. The latest update from their website:

Hyatt has closed four other properties due to evacuation orders – Hyatt Centric Key West, Hyatt Place Marathon/Florida Keys, Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Ft. Lauderdale, and the Confidante in Miami Beach.
