Saudi Prince Books Entire Four Seasons Beverly Hills + Four Seasons Silicon Valley

Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (MBS) has rented out the entire Beverly Wilshire (A Four Seasons Hotel) in LA as well as the Four Seasons Silicon Valley for his trips this week. At the iconic Beverly Hills property, he’s rented all 285 rooms including 100 suites, estimated to cost at least $171,000 per night. The hotel will not be open to other guests Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The Four Seasons Silicon Valley is closed to all other guests from April 2nd – April 7th. The royal heir is in LA to meet with Hollywood executives including Brian Grazer, Bog Iger, Rupert Murdoch, and Oprah Winfrey. A hotel insider says that MBS and his entourage had to convince the hotel to not only shut down, but also to relocate high-end (sometimes long term) guests. In the Bay Area, MBS will meet with Tim Cook, Google execs, and other venture capitalists.

The Wrap does a nice job of summarizing the reason for the trip:

The prince’s trip to Hollywood has sparked curiosity among industry leaders who — let’s just say this bluntly — like money. Theater owners and Hollywood studios have been salivating since Saudi Arabia ended its 35-year ban on movie theaters in December. Bin Salman has also sought to open up Saudi Arabia to new forms of industry — such as entertainment — instead of relying so heavily on oil, the major source of Saudi Arabian wealth.

Are the Saudi’s setting up prisons in the US now? I wonder how much money Oprah, Cook and the others will be paid to be released.
