Etihad Chauffeur for Coral Economy Class Guests Now Available

by Adam

Etihad Chauffeur is a complimentary service available to Diamond First and Pearl Business Class passengers traveling on Etihad Airways operated flights, including those using mileage award tickets (AA, ANA, etc.). The perk provides car service as follows:
– Diamond First Class Guests: At all points throughout the journey.
– Pearl Business Class Guests (Members of Etihad Guest Gold Elite, Etihad Guest Gold and Etihad Guest Silver): At all points throughout the journey.
– Pearl Business Class Guests (Etihad Guest base members and non-members): Up to 2 transfers per journey.

Beginning earlier this month, Etihad has also made their Etihad Chauffeur service available to Coral Economy passengers traveling to/from London Heathrow. The service is not complimentary, though the rates are somewhat competitive and include a BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E Class. The price includes all taxes, fees, 60 minutes of waiting time, and parking charges. In a sample booking, a trip from LHR to the W Leicester Square priced at ?65 or $102 USD. For comparison sake, the same trip using GroundLink, which allows mileage earning for your bookings, costs $97 USD non inclusive of taxes, inside pick-up, or processing fees. The GroundLink reservation provides a Lincoln Town Car 2003 – 2005, Chrysler 300, or comparable car type.

Not a horrible deal if you plan to take a car into central London. Remember, if you have redeemed an award on Etihad, car service is available from both JFK and ORD in the US. A full list of all worldwide cities served can be found here. I’ll be taking advantage of the service on an upcoming one-way ticket from Sydney. Of course, if you are just looking to get into central London for as little as possible, Heathrow Express train service can get you to London Paddington in only 15 minutes for as little as ?20, while a tube ride is only ?5 and takes just short of an hour.

I flew on an AA award ticket, 60,000 RT from ICN-AUH in low season March 2012 on Business Pearl Class, arriving around 9pm at night. Even though I did not have a reservation for the limo, I was graciously treated to one and arrived safely at the Le Meridian. The entire experience has spoiled me completely. Onward to more mileage collection!
