Hilton Pool Closed – Mommy Points in Barbados?

by Adam

Yesterday was the final day of the BA Avios Escape from the Blizzard trip in Barbados but the Hilton pool was closed. Roped off by yellow “Do Not Cross” tape, the pool was expected to re-open at noon but the time was pushed back to 2pm and then until 5pm.  As per the towel guy, a toddler “had gone bad” in the pool. Luckily we stick to the amazing public beach just down the street at Carlisle Bay anyway…

I had exactly the same problem when I stayed there in July last year. Seems to be the favorite place for toddlers to #2. By the way if you walk up the road from Hilton you will notice a small shack where they may the best fish sandwiches I have ever had. It’s 5Bajans. Add a Bank’s or my favorite soda “Plus” and sit down by the beach right next to it and you’ll have a party in your mouth! I have 1 or two everyday. Perfectly cooked marlin.

@Zz – I had lunch there almost every day…two sandwiches some days. Banks are only $1.50 USD! I love Carlisle Bay too, almost completely empty last week.

I just booked my honeymoon at that Hilton! Avios of course for the airfare on AA, thanks to knowledge I have gained from reading travel blogs =)

Anyone have advice on what to see and do in Barbados? We’ll be spending a week there in April.

It’s always a total bummer when clueless traveling parents ruin things for everyone else. It’s called a swim diaper folks… if your toddler isn’t totally potty trained, use it!
