Trip Report – Sheraton Kraków Hotel

by Adam

This is part ten of a twelve part trip report from my travels to Kiev, Vienna, Tel Aviv, and Kraków. This trip report covers the Sheraton Kraków hotel.

The rates during our extended weekend stay were $234 per night or 10,000 SPG points for a classic room. We decided on booking the 10K SPG points per night rate.

Upon arriving to the hotel, you’ll notice a great view of Wawel Castle in the background as well as the Wisla River just across the street.

As an SPG Platinum member at check-in, I was upgraded from the classic room I had booked to a junior suite with club level access. Platinum welcome amenity choices included 500 points, a Polish vodka bottle, red wine, or Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Lounge amenities included complimentary breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, as well as water, juices, and pastries throughout the day.

My friend, an SPG gold member, was not upgraded and was given a normal classic room, though I was of course able to provide guest lounge access. All rooms were renovated between 2009-2010, and include a comfy Sweet Sleeper bed, flat-screen TVs, strong wifi, and decently modern bathrooms.

The junior suite was similar to the classic room, though it had an additional seating area and an extra window with amazing views of Wawel Castle. I’ve become a big fan of the Sweet Sleeper beds and this one was no exception.

A fruit platter was waiting for me in the room with grapes, strawberries, and Polish vodka (another one).

Breakfast was available in the club lounge…

or in the restaurant downstairs, SomePlace Else. The offerings were similar, the lounge was more quiet while the downstairs restaurant provided a slightly larger variety.

Speaking of SomePlace Else, they also have a really nice outdoor summer garden…

For even better views though, head up to the rooftop for some cocktails or dinner…

Overall we had a great stay at the Sheraton Kraków. I can’t express how helpful all the staff members were. Konrad at the concierge desk went out of his way to provide recommendations for great local restaurants, hidden local sites, and just to greet us each day. Pavel at the Club Lounge, went even further. He provided even more detailed recommendations and would print us descriptions of each accompanied with hand-written directions. We felt that he was genuinely looking out for us at all times. After night one, he already knew our favorite drinks and would have them ready and waiting upon arriving to the lounge.

The location is perfect for exploring the downtown attractions (castle, market square, cathedrals, etc). It was also convenient for reaching the main bus station where you can catch a local bus to the concentration camps, about 70km away.

Couldn’t agree more about this place. Pavel was a definite shining star at the property and to be honest everyone we encountered was fantastic. I honestly think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better location to stay in Kraków.

I will be in Krakow in early November and booked 2 (3?) nights @ Sheraton Krakow. Thanks so much for the details on the hotel; I feel like I’ve made an excellent choice!
