Another Delta Website “Enhancement”?

After booking a Delta flight for this coming January from LaGuardia (LGA) to Kansas City (MCI), I was surprised to receive the following message from

Now, the ticket was booked through our corporate travel agency (American Express), but so were all my other Delta revenue flights for work this year. I’m currently a Platinum Medallion member. In the past, I’ve always been able to log right into and select an Economy Comfort seat after making the booking, never before receiving a similar message. This morning, I was only able to select seats that were NOT Economy Comfort and / or Preferred. I thought perhaps I needed to give it more time…but at this point we are at the 25 hour mark and still no access. Hmm, I’ll update this post again when I’m finally able to select an EC seat. Anyone else receiving this notification?

This isn’t the first “enhancement” to the DL website that I’ve been luck enough to experience lately. Last month I reported on the ridiculous response received from DL as to why my Platinum bonus miles were not posting –

Thank you for your recent email providing additional information. I am sorry for the confusion. It appears you will not maintain your Platinum status for 2014. Currently I am showing xxxx MQMs earned. To make Platinum status naturally you would have to earn 75000. As stated in the last email, not all Platinum benefits are extended when status will not be met in the forthcoming year.

  1. I actually had this happen to me on a flight booked the 12th of this month for travel on the 13th. Couldn’t select a seat when got the first confirmation email from Amex (corporate travel as well) until the ticketed email came through about a couple hours later. I would assume your flight has ticketed by now but that’s just my experience.

      • Just thought about this but it may have let me select a seat since I was within the 24hr check in period anyway once it ticketed.

    • I have same issue as Austin, I have not booked any Delta travel during last 30 days so maybe this is something new Delta is doing to stop people from using travel agencies. On AA if you use a travel agency and then call AA to make a change they charge change of fee plus another $25.00 which they claim is to get information from travel agency???

  2. I’ve seen the same message in the past but only until the reservation is actually ticketed. We also use Amex for corporate travel and they have taken as long as 2 hours to ticket a reservation for me. But usually as soon as it’s ticketed with DL everything opens up. You may want to double check your reservation and make sure it’s actually ticketed and not hung up.

  3. Did your Plat bonus miles eventually post?
    After providing all BP’s 2x and calling weekly, I’m still waiting for approx 50k miles from tatl flights since early November.
    Reply from M-desk: “we’re aware and are slowly catching up – it takes time, so take it easy”!
    Hmmmm … kinda worrisome!

  4. This happens to me every time our in-house travel department holds a ticket for me (almost exclusively on Delta). I can always select EC/preferred as soon as it tickets, though, usually about 24 hours after holding.

  5. It happens for the lag time between the reservation and the payment confirmation. Wait 3-4 hours and you can select the seat. I book through Amex at work and we have this issue every time. I dont think its new and I dont think its a ploy against agents.
