Hyatt Devalues My Pre-Devaluation Award Post Booking! Rebooks at New Categ. 7…

by Adam

I made my speculative reservations just hours before the Hyatt devaluations on January 6th, however one of my awards seems to have been re-processed on the 18th and at the new category 7 pricing of 30,000 per night! My colleague noted the same for her reservation, which was also booked just hours before the devaluation. I’m currently in Tokyo (at a Hyatt) so I’ll wait until I’m home to call Gold Passport, but be sure to check your account activity for any award stays booked at the old rates. This also begs the question as to how changes to dates and / or number of nights will go, as these types of changes are supposed to still book into the old award rates through February 15th. Anyone else note the same?

I changed the dates on a pre-deval booking and it was rebooked at the higher rate. I called immediately and was given a credit. The agent knew that date changes were allowed until 2/15.

Same thing happened to me for Grand Hyatt Dubai. On Jan 18 the points award had been increased by 3000. The next entry, also on Jan 18, showed a credit of 3000 points, which negated the increase. Did you see any credits on the same date?

Same happened to me. Agent knew and understood the situation and was able to credit points back to me. She mentioned it was because I made the booking late the night before the devaluation for a property in Australia and the time difference of the hotel made the computer think I missed the deadline.

While having to call is a hassle, the agent knew the issue and had the authority to correct it so it was a very easy call.

Of my six bookings made hours before devaluation:

– Four were processed correctly at the old rates
– One has had no points deducted, despite a confirmation (watch that one!)
– I’ve already canceled one
