Etihad Second JFK Flight Starts, Great Award Availability Still!

by Adam

I posted a few weeks ago that Etihad was starting a second daily JFK flight. At that time the award availability was great and as of this morning..it’s not as good but still pretty fantastic. The second flight kicked off just this Saturday and today I see multiple flights with availability all the way to Male! Here’s the new schedule:

Etihad

Interestingly enough, the new flights are being operated by two three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft leased from Etihad strategic partner Jet Airways and on May 1 Jet Airways will take over the additional service. If you’re redeeming for First Class, you’ll still get a suite product with Jet.

Etihad is partners with both American AAdvantage (90k in First and 67.5k in Business) and ANA Mileage Club. However, the best way to check availability is via the Etihad Guest website.

Correction: Etihad lets you search for awards without signing up for an account.

You don’t need an account to check availability. Go to Etihad Guest, click on ‘spend miles’ then click on ‘reward flight’. Takes you directly to the search availability page.

I recently booked a flight in J back from Abu Dhabi and decided to go on the AUH-YYZ flight because of the uncertainty of the Jet Airways plane. I am probably being silly, but I wanted the full Etihad experience including being on one of their planes.

Also here is a direct link to the award search page. No account is required.

Does anyone know where will I find Etihad 777-200LR seat map. I am booked in Jan 2015 from AUH-LAX but I cannot find the seat configuration for business class. Even Etihad’s own web site has no seat map. They just show 777-300

Hi Adam,

Perhaps you have an answer to this: I always wondered why award flights to the Middle East are typically so much more than award flights to North Asia, which are usually the same distance and amount of flight time. Any idea?

Well 9W may not be able to take this over because India is on Cat II right now from the FAA. So it’ll remain EY dry-lease from 9W.
