United Issues Strong Safety Warning to Pilots after Near Misses

by Adam

In a January 9th bulletin to pilots, United’s senior vice president of flight operations issued a strong warning to pilots after four “near-misses”. The memo noted one UA flight that required a pull-up measure to avoid crashing and another that landed with fuel reserves below minimum regulations. A United spokesperson said:

“We are open and direct with our pilots, as we are with all of our employees. The language that we used is strong, and that’s because safety is our top priority. This enables us to recognize potential issues and adjust our actions to ensure the safety of customers.”
