For the second time in a week, an American 777 has diverted mid-flight due to sick passengers and crew. This time it was American flight 904, a 777-200 flying from Rio de Janeiro (GIG) to Miami (MIA). The flight was forced to divert to Brasilia after three crew members and one passenger said they felt light-headed according to Bloomberg.
Earlier in the week, American Airlines flight 109 from London Heathrow to LAX diverted all the way back to LHR after a mystery illness struck the crew and several passengers. The plane was above Keflavik, Iceland when the captain made the decision to return the plane back 1,180 miles to London, a trip that’s almost 3 hours.
American says the two incidents are not connected while the NYT questions whether the London incident may be due to engine fumes leaking into the cabin causing aerotoxic syndrome.

Interesting that both of these planes, and also MH370, were Boeing 777-200s.
Americans 777 are filthy. I flew on a 777-300 that was only 6 months old there was DUST everywhere. It was disgusting. Bathrooms were not cleaned thoroughly and galleys and floors were much dirtier than your average 777 ( I know they are all kind of dirty) Americans planes are the dirtiest I have been on. IF they cleaned more thoroughly it would help with disease control and spread of disease. Not to say that is the cause, but it must be considered.
