BA 777 Engulfed in Flames in Vegas to Return to Service

The British Airways 777-200 that caught fire last September in Las Vegas (LAS) will return to service according to Yahoo. The airline will put the jet back in service at a yet to be determined date after “stringent checks have been completed”. A spokesman told Yahoo that the GE engine that caught fire has already been removed and will be replaced.

“The airframe was inspected by a team of highly experienced engineers from Boeing who concluded that the damage was limited and suitable for repair. A team from Boeing is carrying out the repair work, which will be certified to the same high standards as if the aircraft was brand new. The airframe was inspected by a team of highly experienced engineers from Boeing who concluded that the damage was limited and suitable for repair. A team from Boeing is carrying out the repair work, which will be certified to the same high standards as if the aircraft was brand new.”
