Flydubai Accident Likely Pilot Error, Emirates Pilots Claim to Have Fallen Asleep In-Flight, Miscalculation of Hours Flown

In case you missed the statement last week by the Interstate Aviation Committee, the group is suggesting that pilot error was a factor in the Flydubai FZ981 accident.

“Based on the preliminary analysis of information from the flight recorders, no failures of any aircraft systems and components or powerplant have been revealed by now,” the IAC report said. “The aircraft had a valid airworthiness certificate, it underwent all the necessary technical maintenance and was in good order at the time of departure.”

UPI reports that a media company funded by the Russian government has been contacted by 60 former and current Flydubai and Emirates pilots who allege mistreatment including the miscalculation of pilots’ time. Additionally, several pilots admit to falling asleep while flying.

The complaints also include statements indicating pilots are discouraged from filing internal reports, and when reports of problems are submitted, the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority does not act on them.
