Hotel Bans Guests from Wearing Lycra Due to “Bumps and Bulges”

by Eric

You couldn’t make this stuff up! The Plough Hotel in New Zealand has a new dress code: no customers can wear Lycra.

Mike Saunders, the hotel owner, has decided to start serving breakfast at his property, and is quoted as saying:

We just want to set the standards out here in the country and make sure people wear trousers when they go out for breakfast. [Lycra is] just a little unsuitable, we don’t always want to see any unsightly bumps and bulges. We get a nice group of customers out here, some elderly folk . . . when you’re trying to concentrate on your breakfast you just want to see the sausages on your plate.

We know that competitive cyclists can wear outfits that are quite skin tight, and Saunders has made it clear that Lycra is the only item of clothing he is banning. Everything else, from muddy football boots, to sandals to tracksuits are acceptable to him.

This applies only to men I presume? What about women’s skimpy tops? Haha
