Delta to End Paris (CDG) -Pittsburgh (PIT) Service Early, Cut Frequencies

Due to a “reduction in demand”, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Delta will end their Paris-Pittsburgh service in September rather than October. Weekly frequencies will drop to five days a week in September down from daily.

Anthony Black, a Delta spokesman, on Monday attributed the cuts to weakening demand, not only for the Pittsburgh-to-Paris flight but for others in the carrier’s network.

“We are seeing a reduction in passenger demand as well as passenger revenue and this decision is part of our overall effort to reduce capacity across the system,” he said.

Not only are fewer people buying tickets, but those who are buying them are paying less than what the airline had projected earlier this year. That has prompted Delta to trim service throughout its system.

“Overall, market demand is lower than what we predicted and, as a result, we are adjusting our flying to match that demand,” Mr. Black said.
